Starfish Early Alert

Starfish is a communication tool used by Minot State University faculty, staff, and students to support student academic success. Students do not succeed alone but are more successful when direct faculty-student communication is combined with effective support from advisors and other support staff on campus.

Early Alert Program
This feature enables instructors to give praise (kudos) or raise concerns (flags) regarding students’ academic performance early in the term. Communication is sent to students regarding available resources, and advisors/support staff are asked to reach out to students where appropriate.

New Student Survey/Appointments
Students will complete a New Student Survey allowing academic advisors to learn more about their advisees and assist them in achieving their goals. Faculty/staff may use Starfish to simplify the process of scheduling appointments with their students.

Request Assistance/Referrals
Students may connect with support personnel by choosing the Request Assistance feature. Faculty/Staff may raise a referral to connect students with campus resources.
